Haversack History

Out of a haversack, early United States history comes alive before your eyes!

At a Haversack History presentation, history is presented through a dramatic monologue discussing the items found in a haversack, a storage bag carried when on a multi-day trek. Warren wears period clothing and accoutrements to add a flavor specific to the end of the 18th century.

Warren's interest in buckskinning started in 5th grade while reading Daniel Boone. The dream of shooting a flintlock was kindled. Then, in 1976, a time when Americans were reminiscing, he met a group of flintlock shooters recreating living history. From there it was a constant search for the next doins.

 
America's history becomes dramatically alive when one is immersed in the lifestyle of the 1790s. Warren and his family have spent weeks camped in community settings called rondevouz, where living history takes place consistently.

All of this exposure to history led Warren to speak about what he has learned. His presentations have been seen by scouts, lodges, school children, nursing home residents, and church groups.
